Follow the Breadcrumb Path

 SL5013.20  Competency #2

Searched on Yahoo

Love this site! I taught fourth grade language arts at Silverlake Elementary with Stephanie Williamson.  She  is one of the reasons I chose to acquire my MLS. While completing a mural in the Silverlake Library summer 2001, I got a  ten week front row seat watching an inspiring educator. This librarian makes reading come alive!

The link above is a personal webpage she and her travel partner made this past summer while they "Followed the Breadcrumb Path"  throughout Europe tracking down the origins of some of the world's most loved fairy tales! They checked in regularly on their journey. Click on the link above view their itinerary, journal entries, videos and pictures.  (Ms. Williamson's sister created the original artwork for the page.)

Ms. Williamson's and Ms. Hind's journey was made possible with a grant from Fund for Teachers.

"Fund for Teachers enriches the personal and professional growth of teachers by recognizing and supporting them as they identify and pursue opportunities around the globe that will have the greatest impact on their practice, the academic lives of their students and on their school communities." (Excerpt from "Fund for Teacher" webpage at  http://www.fundforteachers.org/)

I am going to keep this in mind when I become a school librarian. What a wonderful way to learn and teach!

I'm glad you posted up your pics of the Silverlake Library and your murals! The murals sure make the library colorful and inviting to everyone! Especially kiddos. :) -Laynie
